Welcome to ICE Brookline Jamaica Plain Pop-Warner Football & Cheerleading, renamed in honor of Ian Cotterell. Ian was one of the founders of the Brookline Jamaica Plain Patriots. He was tremendously loved and respected by everyone who came through the program because of his passion, dedication, and commitment to helping the young men and women in the program develop into respectful and responsible adults. Although Ian has passed on, we strive to continue his mission of building a strong community and uplifting children through the sport he loved most. Welcome to our page! We hope to see you all on the field, cheering on our young athletes and supporting them as they grow both on and off the field. Go Patriots!

A standout alumnus of the "ICE" Brookline JP Patriots program, Kejuan — known to teammates as “Key” — starred at Concord-Carlisle High School before continuing his football career at Springfield College as a Running Back and Cornerback. An impact player from his freshman year, he battled through adversity, learned from every experience, and continued to make a difference day in and day out. Kejuan became a dynamic kick returner, returning two kickoffs for touchdowns in his final season, while his willingness to embrace his role and help build the Brotherhood earned the highest praise from his coaches. He pursued a degree in Criminal Justice and carried forward the same ability to adapt, attack, and overcome that defined his time on Alden Street — embodying the Patriot values of hard work, discipline, resilience, and heart.

The fans in attendance would then witness history as Kejuan Farquharson (Hyde Park, Mass.) took the next kickoff 100 yards for the score, setting a new Springfield College record and marking just the 93rd time in NCAA Division III history that a kickoff has been returned for a touchdown from 100 yards out.”

All October, BJP Patriots athletes wear pink to support those affected by breast cancer, honor survivors and remember those we have lost — and to remind our athletes that their health matters. Did you know? 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will develop breast cancer in their lifetime; men can get it too (about 1 in 100 diagnoses). Found early, the 5-year survival rate is about 99%. Early detection saves lives. For our athletes: know your body, pay attention to changes, and tell a parent, coach, school nurse or trusted adult if something doesn't feel right. Strong athletes take care of their health. Together we are stronger.
